As a Part of IBM academic Initiative Program a workshop on DB2 tool was organized by CST Club at VIT CAMPUS from 15/10/12 to 17/10/12for the 7semester CSE & 5^th Semester IT Branch students under the efforts of HOD CS/IT Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Singh and faculty coordinators Ms. Neelam Choudhary & Ms. Tarannum Sheikh . The workshop was free of cost for all participants.  It was a big achievement for CST Club as well as VIT Campus. Inaugural session was conducted on 15 September with the valuable lecture delivery by IBM Trainer Mr. Sunny Narang. He was the key note speaker of the workshop.
During the session he focused He focused on the following topics with live examples

1. Overview about TGMC

2. Relational database concepts

3. Knowledge of the features or functions available in DB2 tools (i.e., control center, configuration advisor, configuration assistant, command line processor)

4. Basic Db2 & SQL commands & Data Studio

6. Ability to identify and connect to DB2 servers and databases, DB2 objects

8. Knowledge of basic characteristics and properties of DB2 objects

9. Given a DDL SQL statement, knowledge to identify results (ability to create objects)

10. Given a DML SQL statement, knowledge to identify results

11. Ability to use SQL to SELECT data from tables, SORT or GROUP data

13. Ability to use SQL to UPDATE, DELETE, or INSERT data

14. Knowledge of transactions (i.e., commit/rollback and transaction boundaries)

15. Ability to call a procedure or invoke a user defined function

16. Given an XQuery statement, knowledge to identify results

17. Transaction, ACID properties, Multiuser Environment

20. Isolation Level in Db2 9.7, Knowledge of DB2 products (client, server, etc.)

22. Knowledge of different privileges and authorities

23. Knowledge of encryption options (data and network)

24. Given a DDL SQL statement, knowledge to identify results (grant/revoke/connect statements)

The session was very interactive and fruitful for the students. Mr. Sunny Narang also discussed about big data that was beyond the curriculum of DB2 workshop.

VIVEKANANDA JAYANTI CELEBRATION NEWS LETTER

11^th JANUARY,2014

VIT Campus Jaipur celebrated Vivekananda Jayanti on 11/1/14 in auditorium of VIT by 11:30am. Function was organized by the both CST and VSSA Club.

 

The function was started by the inaugural ceremony followed by lamp lighting.

Dr.  Lalit Mohan from Mahaveer cancer hospital and Ms. Rachana Jani have invited as guest of honors, Dr. Samit Sharma (IAS), General Manager, Rajasthan Mines and Minerals Corporation invited as a chief guest. A warm welcome has given them by presenting bouquet.

Prof. (Dr.) M Raisinghani Vice chairperson VIT Campus has given welcome speech for all participants, and guest of VIT Campus.

Students of the various clubs at the VIT Campus gave brief presentations about the activities of their clubs during the current session. Different nontechnical and technical clubs have awarded by mementos and certificates by the chief guests.

Achievers from the different clubs also felicitated for their outstanding and remarkable contributions for the development of their respective clubs.

INTRODUCTION

The operation of the CST is to make easy the new learning, technologies, advancements, improvements in technical world, sharing of knowledge,blooming the minds and re-creating the passion with a new enthusiasm in technocrats. The CST aims at developing a future in technical world, a different and easy way.The society conducts several workshops, seminars, presentations, several technical activities are carried out, and national & international conferences for enhancing the research work in India.

OBJECIVE OF CST CLUB

— The society will publish one issue of its technical magazine “TechNexo”,which will be published in the month of September.

— The society will organize and conduct 2 workshops with the hands on practice experience for students and all other members.

— The society will also conduct seminars on new upcoming technologies in IT field.

— Weekly presentations will be conducted by the student members to enhance their communication and presentation skills.

— Several other activities like technical quiz, poster making, techno-talks, project making, research works will also be organized periodically by CST.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Mr. Ravi Kumar Soni of CSE 2^nd year was certified “Programming in HTML5 with java script in CSS3” from Microsoft.

Mr. Arpit Rajauria and Mr. Ravi Kumar Soni of CSE 2^nd year were received their first Cheque of Rs. 9600/- from Google AdSense for their SEO Work.

CST Club 2^nd annual day was celebrated on 3^rd Jan. 2014 at electronics Lab. All current and past student members as well as faculty coordinators of club were present. The annual day celebration also included birthday celebration of HOD CS/IT Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Singh.

The annual day celebration started with the birthday wishes including presentation of bouquet to HOD CS/IT by past president of club (Mr. Manas Madan) and other members of CST club which was followed by cake cutting ceremony. All club members and staff members enjoyed the day with high tea.

The celebration continued with the speech of Prof (Dr.) Baldev Singh. He discussed about the club activity and achievements which was followed by documentary of CST club.

Then a collage was presented as birthday gift by Principal VIT Prof (Dr.) D.P. Darmora on behalf of club members. He congratulated the CST team for their successful completion of workshops/seminars and other activities. He also appreciated all members for their dedication and involvement in such activities.

After that the club members shared their plans for future club activities with other members. Many suggestions for further improvements were given by them.

At last the annual day celebration ended with photo session. All members were full of energy and enthusiasm. They reminded the mission and vision of the club and took resolution to work hard with more and more efforts and dedication. It was decided that in this session more innovated activities will be conducted by club.
